Another important task the Records Office performs is the processing of background checks (also called "Criminal Information Requests", or "CPICs"). Background checks are typically requested by agencies that someone living in the Kingston community is looking to work or volunteer for. When completed, the information supplied on this form by the Kingston Police could include criminal record information, information where the applicant was a suspect, and/or information where the applicant is currently before the courts.
To make a request for the Kingston Police to perform a background check, you have two options:
Effective January 7, 2013, our background check fee $25.00.
Click here to access the online background check service (requires $25.00 pre-payment with VISA or MasterCard), or;
Attend Kingston Police Headquarters at 705 Division Street in-person to fill out the form and submit it to Records Office personnel (requires $25.00 pre-payment with cash, Interac, VISA or MasterCard).
Photo identification such as a drivers license must be presented at the time the background check is submitted for processing (or when picked up if submitting your request online) so that the information provided can be verified. A second piece of identification must also be supplied.
