Citizen Police Academy
SUBMISSIONS
ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR OUR SPRING SESSION. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO
APPLIED. FOR THOSE STILL INTERESTED COME BACK IN THE FALL WHEN WE HOPE
TO RUN OUR NEXT CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY
HISTORY
The Kingston Police will host a spring Academy commencing March 22, 2012
and will be structured as an interactive information sharing evening;
similar to a night class. The Academy will be a two hour session
offered one night a week until May 24, 2012. Whatever motivation a
citizen may have for attending this eight week Academy, the end result
will be a community member that better understands the challenges and
responsibilities of policing.
CONTENT
The purpose of the Academy is to familiarize citizens with the Kingston Police. Participants will get a glimpse into the operations of the Kingston Police in areas such as traffic enforcement, criminal investigation, forensic identification and police training. Through interaction, participants will quickly learn to gain respect and have a better understanding of people who serve their community. There will also be an opportunity for participants to provide feedback and suggestions to improve the Kingston Police.
PARTICIPANT SELECTION
Our Academy is supported by the Kingston Police Services Board and members of the Kingston Police. We are looking for mature, adult, community minded individuals who represent a wide range of ages, occupations and reasons for participating. Participants shall work or reside in the city of Kingston. Security checks will be completed before selection of the participants.
